Let's see why do I want to go there?
1. There are several interesting professors there who's research is awesome (I know great word, right?), but seriously they do some great work and their interests co-inside with mine, like Dr. Higgins, who is going to beginning research on Oppression, or Dr. Currans who is currently transforming her dissertation into a book, but does research on public protests organized and mainly attended by women and how they start broader conversations on diversity. How amazing does that sound?!? Ok well it sounds great to me...
2. Who wouldn't want to live in a place named Ypsilanti?
3. On another serious note, I've been looking at their WGST dept Points of Pride...How about hands on mentoring opportunites to young girls in the community, a HUGE Women's History month celebration and sponsoring the Olga Madar Lectureship for the Empowerment of Women, which brings in renowned political scholars and leaders to the EMU campus for engagement with students, faculty and staff, and community members in an effort to increase awareness of political leadership oppurtunities for women.
4. They have a great LGBT program AND they recently added "gender" to their WGST program to be inclusive of the LGBT community and issues :)

I just can't get enough of EMU! I'm like a walking, typing advertisement...which is why they should accept me :)
